Seven memes that perfectly sum up product marketers
The first-ever article to feature the struggles of product marketers
No matter what I write here, I know you’re going to jump to the memes part. Still, keeping in mind the people who don’t know about product marketing, I have explained the situation above every meme.
#1
Product marketers work with the product team, launch features, create collaterals for customers, train customer-facing teams while thinking of how to position the product. The list doesn’t end here. Every day teaches them something new, and yet there’s one thing they realize daily.
I seriously need to get better at time management.
With most of their tasks being time-sensitive, they have no option but to work on all of them at the same time. Because they can’t postpone the webinar or product launch, can they?
#2
Once a product marketer launches X feature, and its adoption rate picks up, they start working on launching the next upcoming feature Y. While they’re busy preparing for it, the X feature would have got a minor tweak or enhancement. Which means they have to update every solution article and screenshot they created. But, which task would they prioritize?

While the product manager does most of the talking during customer calls, the product marketer gets pulled in too to understand which collaterals are useful and which need updating. But then, product managers are super busy people with back-to-back meetings. When they are 5 minutes late to the call, it’s the product marketer who handles it meanwhile. And, that’s when all the complicated technical questions come in.
#4
As the launch date gets nearer, the product marketer rushes to tick off every task from their to-do list. On rare occasions, when they do complete ahead of time, this is what happens.
By the time the bugs are fixed, some extra capability would be added to the feature, which means extra work for the product marketer.
#5
“What if the product team releases the feature/product before I finish the launch tasks?” is the constant nightmare of every product marketer.
#6
No explanation needed here. I’m sure this isn’t limited to product marketing alone.
#7
Despite all these struggles, it’s the satisfaction of helping out people that keeps every product marketer going.
